(EDITOR’S NOTES — The new year is only a few weeks old and already there’s a lot happening across the scene. We had an especially busy January, and there remains some things we wanted to make sure we noted, so we bring you this short roundup of some added music news from the last two weeks. Thanks for your continued support!)

Buffalo first-wave hardcore band G.O.A has issued a release that pays dual tribute to the 40th anniversary of Virus X’s classic ‘Pink’ album and Tension’s ‘Pericolo Di Morte’ — two seminal records in WNY punk history. The record — on 7-inch and CD —includes G.O.A cover versions of Virus X’s ‘That’s too Bad’ and Tension’s ‘Put it Out,’ as well as the original 1985 versions by the legendary bands themselves. Grab a copy of this very cool and worthy tribute at the Classic Core Records webstore HERE

Speaking of new releases, Buffalo hardcore-crust punk band Razorface has dropped its debut demo on Swimming Faith Records. Described on its Bandcamp page as the byproduct of shoving one’s face in a blender and setting it to high, we’d say that’s a pretty apt description. Eight songs and clocking in at 13 minutes, this record is frantic, brutal, a bit creepy in the right places and completely unrestrained. It is also very good. Check it out HERE. Follow the band on Bandcamp HERE

Buffalo folk-punk artist Sleep Debt Ceiling, who in normal everyday life is also known  as James Stephenson, has dropped his latest single ‘Misery is My Calling Card,’ an excellent, darkly self-examining and darkly humorous song that you can listen to HERE. The song is a prelude to Sleep Debt Ceiling’s forthcoming new EP ‘Dead Air Trap,’ set for release April 25. The new record comes just months after the Sleep Debt ceiling debut Demo, which we highly recommend. Follow Sleep Debt Ceiling on Insta HERE and on Bandcamp HERE.

Photosound, a four-piece post-punk Buffalo indie band, has dropped its new demo, which you can check out HERE. The three-track EP, which comes in at just over 11 minutes, includes very well-crafted songs accompanied by a vocal delivery that conjures the spirit of Ian Curtis. This is an interesting band from whom we’re excited to hear more. Stay tuned!

We were fortunate recently to spend a day at GCR studio as the prolific Buffalo pop-punk band Skyway, working with the much-in-demand Jay Zubricky, began recording its forthcoming EP set for release later this year. More to come later from the band on their new upcoming release. In the meantime, here’s a gallery of some images from that day’s session.
